Ages 13-18

Join us for a special YAW Session: a new musical workshop! Each session will include new script drafts and new songs, which students will work on with a team of professionals. Students can participate as performers or any behind the scenes roles! The musical is bilingual in Spanish and English, and all language experience levels are welcome. The finished musical will be presented across two weekends of fully produced performances.

Bienvenidos para una sesión especial de YAW: una taller de un musical nuevo! Casa sesión los estudiantes trabajarán con un equipo de profesionales en nuevos borradores de guiones y nuevas canciones. Los estudiantes pueden participar como actores o detrás de escena! El musical es bilingüe en español e inglés, y todos los niveles de experiencia en los idiomas son bienvenidos. El musical terminado se presentará durante dos fines de semana con actuaciones totalmente producidas.

Summary: Dani lives on an island called Tierra Alta, ruled by El Sol. Where the sun shines all day, giving the island the most lush fruits and vegetables, but forcing the islanders to constantly work without rest. Dani's Abuela tells Dani and their friends about the special energy of la noche and how the island used to know rest when La Luna would come out at night. The trio receives an omen that they must return La Luna to the night sky and save the island from El Sol!

Workshop & Rehearsal Period: 1/6-3/7, Mondays & Thursdays / los lunes y los jueves 6-8:30pm

Tech Week: 3/9-3/13, Sunday - Thursday / los domingos - los jueves 6-9pm

Performances: 3/14 at 7pm, 3/15 at 4 & 6:30pm, 3/16 at 4pm, 3/21 at 7pm, 3/22 at 4 & 6:30pm, 3/23 at 4pm

Ages 13-18

Monologues aren’t just for auditions! Being able to maintain your performing focus through extended solo delivery is important for every actor and most every show. From Shakespeare to Simon, Miller to Wilson, and on and on. Students will work on taking their basic delivery skills and enhancing them with acting tools and analysis. The class culminates with showcase performances for parents.

Ages 8-12

Everyone loves the short stories, parables, folklore, and tall tales of our cultures’ histories. With this class, students will learn about why those stories were important, why they have such lasting power even today, and then combine elements from some of their favorites into an original piece to be presented to the parents at the final showcase.
