  • The auditions will be monitored by the Executive Artistic Director, Kristin Heckler; Director, Tanaquil Márquez; and a desk monitor, Ryan Canney.
  • Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together. Prepare a brief comic (contemporary) monologue.

The following 5 roles will be considered for 2 principal AEA contracts:

MARIANA (MARI) (she/her, Late 20s/Early 30s, Latina) An art gallery director. Ambitious, Uptight,

Guarded.

ESTELLA (she/her, mid-fifties, Latina) A movie star. Regal, Charming, Beloved.

CAROLINA (CARO) (she/her, Late 20s/Early 30s, Latina) A painter. Unconventional, Intuitive, Passionate.

JUAN (he/him Late 20s/Early 30s, Latino) A Miami-Dade police officer. Warm, Goofy, Easy-going.

JENNY (she/her, Late 20s/Early 30s, White) A personal assistant. Bubbly, Savvy, Romantic.

 Cady Heron may have grown up on an Aftrican savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strance new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naive newbie rise to the top of the poularity pecking order? By taking on The Plasitcs, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina's reign with Cady going undercover as an aspiring Plastic. When the lines between the real Cady and her Plastic self get blurred, she must find her way backto herself and her true friends.

Young actors, ages 12 & up, will be considered for all roles.

Please prepare 1-2 minutes of memorized show tune. Bring headshot/phot, resume, sheet music, and all known commitments for the monts of April and May. No CDs. No appointments necessary. Auditinog held on the Project Stage. Video auditions accepted if unavailable in-person.

Rehearses 3 weeknights and 1 weekend day each week beginning the first week of April with mandatory tech week from May 18th through 21st and performances on:

Work With Us

Technical Director

Montgomery Theater seeks a Technical Director to oversee all set construction of 2026 Main Stage Productions. The role is on a contractual basis, ideally for an entire season. The candidate will coordinate with the creative team to execute the set designer’s vision, primarily in carpentry.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Serve as general contractor for the construction of all sets.

2. Consult with the Artistic Director, Set Designer, Director of play/musical and other technical staff to establish requirements specific to each show during scheduled and ad hoc production meetings.

3. Assist with planning for unusual technical and/or engineering requirements, i.e. unique set pieces or speciality materials, as needed.

4. Procurement and transportation of construction materials for each production.

5. Serve as liaison between Montgomery Theater staff and any subcontractors or merchants related to set construction

6. Coordinate with production Lighting and Sound Designers to ensure all technical aspects are taken into consideration during set construction and completion.

7. Convert all scenic designer plans into necessary materials.

 

8. Facilitate strikes following each production, ensuring safe, organized teardown and storage.

REPORTS to the Artistic Director.

SUPERVISES Scenic Painters and subcontractors as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. 3 yrs. experience in theater oriented construction preferred

2. Construction skills, including carpentry and electrical required

3. Basic knowledge of other technical departments such as lighting and sound preferred

Volunteer

We are always looking for volunteers to serve as ushers. Help create a welcoming atmosphere for our patrons! Ushers are responsible for welcoming patrons, helping them find their seats, and ensuring any trash or personal items left behind are picked up after the performance. If you'd like to usher, please reach out directly to play@montgomerytheater.org and introduce yourself. New Ushers need to plan to arrive a little earlier for training.

 Stage Managers

Looking for those with Stage Management interest to SM and Board Operate for our Education Programs. Applicants should have excellent time management skills, stay calm under pressure, and enjoy organizational tasks. Applicants will be working with young actors.
Montgomery Theater, Too 
April/May and Sept/Oct.
4-6 weeks of rehearsals, approximately 10 hours/week.
2 weeks of performances, Thursday-Sunday, 15-20 hours/week
Young Actors Workshop 
July, 2 week commitment, 55 total hours

 

Assistant Stage Managers

Looking for those with backstage interest to ASM for Main Stage productions throughout the season. Applicants would be working with professional Stage Manager and actors and should have skills with time management and organization. Responsibilities include props management, costume change assistance, set changes, coordination between Stage Manager and cast, etc.
Must be able to commit to 4 weeks of productions, Thursdays & Sundays 3pm performances, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 7:30pm performances. During 4 weeks of tech and performance, approximately 20 hours per week.
Attendance at rehearsals optional, attendance during tech week mandatory. 

 

Costume & Prop Assistants

Looking for those with costume and prop interest to assist with fittings, weekly laundry, maintenance of prop and costume storage, procurement and building of props. Available for both Main Stage and Education Programs. Applicants should have organizational skills, but enthusiasm for costumes and props is the only requirement.
6 week commitment, less than 5 hours per week.

 

Travel stipends available, varies by role.

Set Designers for 2025 Season

 

We are seeking set designers for one or more productions for the 2025 Main Stage season. Previous experience in scenic design, including educational, is required. Scenic painting or charge scenic experience are preferred.

We encourage designers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as designers with disabilities, to submit.

Salary: $1,000 per contract

Need a place to hold a meeting, event, party?

Rent the Theater!

The Project Stage ​can be used for small, non-theatrical performances, meetings or parties. The fixed seating capacity is 77 , with room for up to 95 for a cocktail party.

The Main Stage ​has fixed seating for up to 122, and can be used for non-theatrical performances, meetings and presentations. Included in a Main Stage rental is use of the lobby and the Box Office area. Renters must provide their own sound equipment.

The Rehearsal Hall​, located upstairs from the Main Stage, can accommodate up to 70 people for a cocktail party event without seating. It can accommodate up to 50 people for a seated meeting or event. Included is use of a small kitchen with a refrigerator and a small stove. The Rehearsal Hall is not handicap accessible
