Equity Principal Auditions for

DANCING LESSONS

Montgomery Theater Rehearsal Hall
124 N Main St, Souderton, PA

 

Prepare:

  • Please email Artistic Director Tom Quinn at tq@montgomerytheater.org if you expect to attend.  No appointments.  This is a first come, first serve basis.
  • Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together, even if you have sent one. 
  • Prepare a brief comic (contemporary) monologue.

 

The following 2 roles will be considered for 2 principal AEA contracts: 

Senga Quinn: Female presenting – mid 30’s to mid 40’s. Dancer. She has an injured leg and may never dance professionally again.

Ever Montgomery: Male presenting – mid 30’s to mid 40’s. Professor of Geosciences at New York Institute of Technology. On the autism spectrum, high functioning.

 

Salary:

$459/week

What to expect:

The auditions will be monitored by the Director: Tom Quinn, Managing and Associate Artistic Director: Kristin Heckler, and also a desk monitor, Caitlyn Colgan.

Schedule:

Rehearsals: May 14 thru June 5
Tues. thru Fri. 11am to 5pm, Sundays 4-10pm
Tech week: Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday 4pm to 10pm

Performances: June 6 thru June 30, 2024
Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays @ 7:30pm, Sundays @ 3pm. Thursday Matinees (3pm) on June 13, 20 and 27

The SpongeBob Musical

Youth Edition

When the citizens of Bikini Bottom discover that a volcano will soon erupt and destroy their humble home, SpongeBob and his friends must come together to save the fate of their undersea world. With lives hanging in the balance and all hope lost, a most unexpected hero rises up. The power of optimism really can save the world!

Prepare:

  • Please prepare 16 bars of a memorized show tune. No CDs.
  • Bring headshot/photo, resumé, sheet music, and all known commitments for the months of April and May. 
  • No appointment necessary.

 

Young actors, ages 12 and up, will be considered for all roles.

SpongeBob Squarepants: An irrepressible young sponge who might just save us all.

Patrick Star: SpongeBob’s best friend. Generally a simple star, he suffers from low self esteem.

Sandy Cheeks: A thrill seeker and scientist with a competitive streak who is loyal to her friends.

Eugene Krabs: Owner of the Krusty Krab restaurant and lover of money.

Sheldon J Plankton: Owner of the Chum Bucket and Mister Krabs main competitor.

Squidward Q Tentacles: Perpetually Pessimistic octoPus who plays the clarinet and comPlains.

Ensemble: Sardines, sponges, crustaceans, French narrators, anemones, and all the other residents of Bikini Bottom. 

  

Schedule:

Rehearsals:
3 weeknights and 1 weekend day each week beginning the first week of April with mandatory tech week from May 13-16

Performances:

May 18 @ 4pm and 6:30pm
May 19 @ 4pm and 6:30pm
May 23 @ 7pm
May 24 @ 7pm
May 25 @ 4pm and 6:30pm
May 26 @ 4pm and 6:30pm

Internships

2024 Season

 

 Stage Managers

Looking for those with Stage Management interest to SM and Board Operate for our Education Programs. Applicants should have excellent time management skills, stay calm under pressure, and enjoy organizational tasks. Applicants will be working with young actors.
Montgomery Theater, Too 
April/May and Sept/Oct.
4-6 weeks of rehearsals, approximately 10 hours/week.
2 weeks of performances, Thursday-Sunday, 15-20 hours/week
Young Actors Workshop 
July, 2 week commitment, 55 total hours

 

Assistant Stage Managers

Looking for those with backstage interest to ASM for Main Stage productions throughout the season. Applicants would be working with professional Stage Manager and actors and should have skills with time management and organization. Responsibilities include props management, costume change assistance, set changes, coordination between Stage Manager and cast, etc.
Must be able to commit to 4 weeks of productions, Thursdays & Sundays 3pm performances, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 7:30pm performances. During 4 weeks of tech and performance, approximately 20 hours per week.
Attendance at rehearsals optional, attendance during tech week mandatory. 

 

Costume & Prop Assistants

Looking for those with costume and prop interest to assist with fittings, weekly laundry, maintenance of prop and costume storage, procurement and building of props. Available for both Main Stage and Education Programs. Applicants should have organizational skills, but enthusiasm for costumes and props is the only requirement.
6 week commitment, less than 5 hours per week.

 

Travel stipends available, varies by role.

Set Designers for 2024 Season

 

We are seeking set designers for one or more productions for the 2024 Main Stage season. Previous experience in scenic design, including educational, is required. Scenic painting or charge scenic experience are preferred.

We encourage designers of all ethnicities, gender identities, and ages, as well as designers with disabilities, to submit.

Salary: $1,000 per contract

Patron Services Manager

The Patron Services Manager is a key member of our small team. They serve as our Box Office Manager and general Office Manager. The schedule rotates between a non-performance (evenings) and performance schedule (afternoons) and consists of four 5 hour shifts per week. Perfect to flex with another part time job. We are offering the position at an hourly wage but are open to discussing a salary position if that better suits the best candidate.

Box Office

  • Manage Box Office and Subscription sales.  Includes answering phones, returning voicemail messages and emails, setting up subscription season in the database, producing sales reports as needed, managing online ticketing
  • Oversee Box Office Associates and volunteer ushers
  • Keep MT master calendar updated

Development and Administration

  • Serve as MT’s COVID Safety Manager
  • Process donations and acknowledgements
  • Assist with fundraising events
  • Assist with payroll
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties including document control

Hours:

$17/hour, 20 hours per week

 

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years arts experience
  • Front of house theater experience is a plus
  • Demonstrated management and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills including  Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously is essential

Need a place to hold a meeting, event, party?

Rent the Theater!

The Project Stage ​can be used for small, non-theatrical performances, meetings or parties. The fixed seating capacity is 77 , with room for up to 95 for a cocktail party.

The Main Stage ​has fixed seating for up to 122, and can be used for non-theatrical performances, meetings and presentations. Included in a Main Stage rental is use of the lobby and the Box Office area. Renters must provide their own sound equipment.

The Rehearsal Hall​, located upstairs from the Main Stage, can accommodate up to 70 people for a cocktail party event without seating. It can accommodate up to 50 people for a seated meeting or event. Included is use of a small kitchen with a refrigerator and a small stove. The Rehearsal Hall is not handicap accessible
